NFTY Spotlight: Meet Johnathan, VP of Operations
Johnathan “Chance” Ballinger is our VP of Operations at NFTY Labs. His daily duties involve working closely with the COO to accomplish most of the operations and back office tasks for the company. He also helps keep track of day-to-day tasks for all of NFTY Labs’ teams, such as the engineering and UI/UX divisions.
Ballinger credits our COO of NFTY Labs, Ty Blackard, for bringing him into the world of Crypto. Long-time friends since grade school, the two went separate ways as they got older, but kept in touch via Twitter.
In 2018, he saw Ty talking about Bitcoin on Twitter, which Johnathan knew nothing about at the time. After Ty educated him, Johnathan dove right into crypto, and hasn’t slowed down since.
As time went on, Johnathan began investing heavily into Chainlink, which sprung his knowledge of crypto even higher. He started to meet up and talk to like-minded people on CryptoTwitter.
“NFTY Labs is changing the way NFTs are perceived. No longer are they just pictures on the internet. NFTY Labs is creating ways to use NFTs to create communities, ownership, and experiences.”
A year and a half later, Johnathan gained even more knowledge regarding the surface layer stuff within crypto. At that time, he began to join tons of Telegram crypto communities and meet tons of new people and projects. With those newfound faces, Ballinger rode the 2020 DeFi summer wave in all its glory.
At this point, he wanted more out of crypto; so Johnathan decided it was time to actually work on a crypto project. He sent Blackard a message asking for advice on how to further himself in this space, which eventually led to them teaming up with James Lawrence to form NFTY Labs.
“NFTY Labs is changing the way NFTs are perceived,” he said. “No longer are they just pictures on the internet. NFTY Labs is creating ways to use NFTs to create communities, ownership, and experiences.”
Johnathan believes NFTs are truly one-of-a-kind digital assets. “Authentic, verifiable, and one of,” he said. “Digital ownership in the form of cryptocurrency. It’s the modern version of trading cards.”
He looks forward to what NFTs can do down the road.
“As of right now, NFTs can be used to create art and garner communities, but in the future they will be able to do so much more.” Ballinger said. “The best part is NFTs are still in the very beginning stages, so the growth for them is so much more!”
